Song Ideas For Music Videos

Potential songs for music video I like.

Cemetery Gates – Pantera

Ozzy Osbourne – Mama I’m coming home

Purple Haze – Jimi Hendrix

I love all three of these songs but my favourite one is Purple Haze is by far, combining both psychedelic lyrics with the hard rock of his original and bizarre (at that time) style of music. It has very drug related connotations as haze is a strain of marijuana which was huge at the time his music was being performed at big festivals like Woodstock in the sixties to protest against the war in Vietnam on an International scale. So Hendrix got very big and is hailed somewhat as a God or at least very well respected in todays “stoner” scene as a renounced cannabis smoker. LSD was also very big at the time he was performing and he was infamous for making a small incision in his head, placing a tab of LSD on the cut and tying a bandana around his forehead so the LSD would seep quicker into his brain and help his drug kick in quicker. LSD is a hallucinogenic which will make bright colours even brighter, almost fluorescent and make you hallucinate very hard. He would do the bandana-LSD combo before most gigs to get him in the zone. He would always wear bright colours on stage to be very abstract and make those who are intoxicated with hallucinogenic’s trip harder.

Therefore one of the reasons for wanting to make a psychedelic music video to this song is because of the use of colour I could incorporate into the video. Also being able to include big psychedelic spirals and borders around shots as well as using my editing skills to increase the brightness of some colours on flowers etc in turn making the video more appealing to the target audience I am trying to appeal to.

  1. Good overview of choice making and I believe more images will assist in your views on psychedelic music albums of the 'hippy' colourful era.
